The University’s Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension (OVPRIE), through the Training and Extension Services Office (TESO), once again gathered its faculty researchers and extension coordinators from across all its campuses, this time for an Impact Assessment Seminar Workshop at the Teatro Ibabawnon of the Main Campus on April 10-11, 2025.
Participants of the said workshop were privileged and honored to get a bucketful of highly technical training from the resource person, none other than Visayas State University’s (VSU) Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Moises Neil V. Seriño, who is an internationally educated expert in statistics and economics.
Entitled "Enhancing Your Evaluation Skills: A Comprehensive Impact Assessment Seminar Workshop,” the two-day session is intended to properly equip researchers and/or extensionists of ESSU in their conduct of research and extension impact assessment. This workshop aims to capacitate the participants and share the basic approaches in assessing the impacts of development, applied, or extension projects. The said learning event utilized the analytical methods commonly applied in documenting and assessing the impacts of development-oriented projects.
Dr. Seriño’s expertise proved valuable in helping develop a comprehensive impact pathway for selected programs and interventions, establishing a methodology for validating its theory of change through the utilization of relevant data and stakeholder feedback. Additionally, the workshop seeks to further develop and implement a mixed-methods impact assessment framework that effectively integrates quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, resulting in a more nuanced and comprehensive understanding of program impacts.
