ESSU Embarks on Futures Thinking and Foresight to Drive Innovation and Impact

Eastern Samar State University (ESSU), through the Office of the Research Development and Extension, holds a three-day Capability Building on Futures Thinking and Foresight via Zoom platform on December 13-15, 2023.

Throughout the intensive three-day activity, it aims to seamlessly integrate future-focused concepts into every facet of the institution's operations, strategy, and culture. With a clear vision of staying ahead of the curve, the institution recognizes the need to adapt and evolve in an ever-changing landscape.

By building foresight capabilities, ESSU has positioned itself as one of the pioneers in identifying research areas that will undoubtedly shape the future. Through this strategic foresight, the University not only fosters innovation but also creates a significant impact on the community it serves.

The activity brought together University key officials, led by its University President, Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr., and sixty (60) selected faculty researchers across ESSU campuses. This demonstrates the University’s belief in the power of collective intelligence and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. With a diverse range of expertise and backgrounds, the activity served as a platform for these intellectual powerhouses to exchange ideas, share insights, and delve into the realm of cutting-edge research.

In partnership with Aptissimi Development Innovations, Inc. (ADII) as training service provider, the endeavor kicked off with the preliminary preparation of a Commodity Write-up, paving the way for Phase 1 - Master Class, called as Foresight-Insight-Action, that aims to elevate participants' skills in FFT (Futures, Foresight, and Trends) through a combination of informative lectures, video presentations, and facilitated workshops.

The University expresses profound gratitude for Senator Pia Cayetano’s unwavering support, acknowledging the significant impact of her contributions. The generosity of her Office has been instrumental in achieving the goals of the institution, making a lasting impact on its pursuit of excellence.
